A true story from Banner’s real life.

I thought we were just taking a little trip to Michigan.

Mom apparently forgot to tell me I had a full schedule of public appearances.

It started in Tawas when we were walking along the pier. A police boat came in, and before I knew it, a whole group of officers had spotted me. They came over to say hello, made a fuss over my beard and glasses, and wanted pictures with me.

Naturally, I cooperated.

I mean… when you're a celebrity, you have responsibilities. 😎🐾

There was just one little problem.

Mom forgot to take a picture of ME with THEM.

Not one.

There were two humans traveling with me, several officers standing there, phones everywhere—and somehow nobody thought, “Hey, maybe we should get a picture of this.”

Humans. 🤦‍♂️

And it didn't stop at the pier.

Everywhere we went, people noticed me. We'd be walking through a store and someone would stop. We'd be outside and someone else would want to say hello. Mom couldn't believe how many people asked if they could take my picture.

I could.

I've seen myself. 😂

One older gentleman spotted my beard and glasses while we were shopping, and as he walked away, Mom heard him talking to himself:

“Welp, I sure have seen it all now…”

I think that was a compliment.

Then came Walmart.

Apparently I had a welcoming committee. 😂

The girls working there saw me riding around and came over to meet me. Pictures were taken, smiles were everywhere, and—for once—Mom remembered to get photographic evidence.

Funny how she remembered at Walmart but somehow forgot when an entire police-boat crew wanted pictures with me. 🤦‍♂️

I love you, Mom, but we need to work on your skills as my publicist.

The best part of the whole trip wasn't really the attention, though.

It was watching people smile.

A few older folks told Mom that seeing me had made their day. I didn't do anything special. I just rode around being myself—beard, glasses and all.

Maybe that's the funny thing about making someone's day.

Sometimes you don't even know you're doing it.

And if a little gray dog riding through Walmart can make somebody smile…

I'd say that was a pretty good vacation. ❤️🐾

Love,
Banner
